Just to give readers a sneak peak into how this blog will evolve, I will be interviewing fellow veterans as well as others who volunteer. Once those interviews are complete I will post them. The aim is to start sharing all of our expiriences when it comes to service. I want to create a forum where we can discuss what made us all serve and how we can increase the number of people who do. In the end, my ultimate goal will be to try to affect public policy as it relates to service and volunteerism. As President Obama has been saying, the time for National Service is at hand.
I want to encourage anyone who has performed some sort of significant service - whether in the military or the Peace Corps, Americorps, Teaching For America - whatever - to share their story with the group. I want to know the nature of your service, why you decided to serve, what you think about those people who do not serve and if you think National Service should be something that is required.
I have a poll question posted in the side bar about this. Feel free to share your vote. Also, I will soon create a form for you to be able to share your story and post it to the blog. In the meantime, please email your stories and opinions on service to enavarro1007@gmail.com
